Nairobi City Excursions
Explore Nairobi National Park, a beautiful wildlife habitat, only a short drive from Nairobi’s central business district. It is the only park in the world that is within a capital city. The park’s beautiful open grass plains savannah is home to wildlife including the endangered black rhino. You can get up-close to species of lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras, antelopes and gazelles among others.

For birdwatchers, Nairobi National Park has hundreds of endemic and migratory bird species. While at the park, you can visit the ivory burning site monument and explore the walking trails at the hippo pools. Being a small park, you can have a half-day tour of the park in just 5 hours.
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program the world. The elephant nursery borders the Nairobi National Park and offers a safe haven to abandoned baby elephants rescued from parks in Kenya. The baby elephants are taken care of until they are ready to be released back to the wild.

In addition to the elephants, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust also takes special care to rhinos and giraffes.
Visitors to the shelter can get up-close with the elephants during feeding and bath time. It is open to the public for 1 hour between 11 am to 12 pm.
Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen Blixen. The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie “Out of Africa” an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s autobiography by the same title.

The Karen Blixen Museum is open every day between 09:30 and 18:00, including on weekends and public holidays. Visitors have the opportunity to take part in guided tours of the house, which features rooms designed in both the original decor and with props from the 1985 film. The grounds, which feature original equipment from the coffee farm, are also available for touring. There is also a gift shop.
