Beautiful Backdrop of the Snow-peaked Mountain
Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa. The area was first designated as a forest reserve before being gazetted as a national park and later became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area features mountain rivers, moorland rocks, dense forest, mineral springs, glaciers, lakes and a variety of high altitude wildlife.
Wildlife such as elephants, water bucks, bushbucks, elands, tree hyrax, and white tailed mongoose can be spotted. Visitors to the park often enjoy mountain climbing, camping and caving against the beautiful backdrop of the snow peaked mountain. Besides the park, there is the nearby Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy that is home to the endangered mountain bongo, an antelope species.
You can have epic experiences in the wild such as helicopter or horse riding safaris. Sport lovers can visit the nearby lodges/resorts for sports activities like lawn tennis and swimming. The adventurous can venture out for sport and fly fishing in the clear mountain streams.
